  • Stipe Comment: Dismounted post-race with the oncourse Veterinarian in immediate attendance and the Horse Ambulance being deployed. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a suspected right fore medial sesamoid bone/suspensory branch injury. RABBIT HOLE was treated and transported to Rangiora Veterinary Centre for further assessment. Trainer Ms. M Gestain reported to Stewards, that following the race meeting, the mare was transported to the Rangiora Veterinary Centre for further assessment, where a veterinary examination, including x-rays, revealed a bone chip to the sesamoid, and an injury to the branch suspensory ligament was also identified. RABBIT HOLE is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday 24 March, after which the mare’s racing future will be reassessed once recovered.
